Testing technologies and connecting them to work sites.
From our Technical Research Institute in Noda, Chiba Prefecture.

Hibiya Engineering’s Technical Research Institute (Noda City, Chiba Prefecture) is a base for the research, verification, and demonstration of equipment technology. To promote the social implementation of liquid cooling technologies, which data centers (DCs) will face in the age of AI and HPC, we are evolving into the demonstration field centered on our Data Center Trial Field (DCTF).

Technical Research Institute’s main activity areas

DC-related technological research

Verification of liquid cooling technologies, development of piping technologies, development of specialized components

Energy-saving technology R&D

Development of energy simulation tools, collaborative research with universities

Performance verification of equipment and machinery

Equipment evaluation, demonstration testing, and effectiveness measurement prior to on-site installation

Demonstrations of ICT and DX technologies

Verification of sensor technologies and construction management tools

At DCTF, the core of the Technical Research Institute, we are promoting the social implementation of liquid cooling.

In November 2024, we established the Data Center Trial Field (DCTF) within our Technical Research Institute in collaboration with NTT Data.

Designed to address the rapidly increasing heat generation of generative AI and HPC servers, this is one of the few demonstration fields in Japan specializing in equipment-side testing, where liquid cooling technologies such as immersion cooling and water-cooled racks can be verified on actual equipment.

In addition to DCs, continuing to conduct equipment technology R&D

Not limited to our DCTF, the Technical Research Institute conducts a wide range of research activities aimed at improving the overall technical capabilities of building facilities.

  1. Energy-saving technologies and energy simulations
We are developing energy simulation tools through collaborative research with universities. These are being utilized to improve the accuracy of energy-saving proposals at the design stage and as technical support for ZEB (Zero Energy Building) renovations and equipment diagnostic services.

  2. Performance verification of new equipment technologies
Prior to on-site deployment, performance verification and durability tests are conducted on equipment within the Technical Research Institute. Even for proposals that are difficult to verify, we can provide clients with concrete evidence based on test results from the Technical Research Institute.

  3. Demonstrations of ICT and DX technologiesWith regard to ICT utilization on construction sites (wearable camera and sensor technologies), we conduct their on-site deployment after having conducted preliminary verification testing at the Technical Research Institute. As an equipment company that possesses expertise in both technologies and construction, we serve as a bridge between demonstration and on-site deployment

Not a company with a research institute, but a company that conducts research directly connected to work sites.

The Technical Research Institute is not just a place in which to conduct research for presentations and publications. Our aim is to verify the equipment, technologies, and construction methods actually used on construction sites, and to directly contribute to the quality, safety, and efficiency of those sites.

Directly reflected in our designs, construction, and proposals to customers, the experimental data from the Technical Research Institute serves as the technical backing for each solution, including DCTF, ZEB renovations, safe and secure construction as well as energy data analyses.

Applying the technologies verified here to work sites

Instead of separating research from implementation, we incorporate the results of our demonstrations into our designs, construction, and proposals.
